Stealth model union alpha
Stealth model Union Alpha has been on OpenRouter for 5 hours.
I'd love to show off some cool 3D renders, or an RTS game, or the next big thing™.
Sadly, the endpoint is getting absolutely hammered. The hype on Twitter is pretty intense, and its clear they are facing a level of demand way beyond their projections. Hmmpf. Basic tasks (and by that I mean minor code edits in a small project) are taking 10 minutes to complete.
Still, this small window has given me some ideas about who has created the model. I personally would rule out OpenAI. It lacks the character of GPT. I don't think its Kimi/Moonshot. Again, the 'feel' feels different. I've seen claims online of Qwen, GLM, Gemma, Gemini, Mistral, and others already.
I need some real usage to gauge it better and narrow down my instincts.
Hoping for a faster day tomorrow!

Sims City - vibe coding nostalgia
I used to enjoy building cities in Simcity 2000.
From the "recticulating splines" to the B-movie monster - I loved everything about SimCity 2000. It retained classic elements like high towers and inner-city roads while adding new features like highways, subways, water pipes. It was a significant improvement over the original game. Suddenly, we could see our magnificent cityscapes in new ways, with 3D capturing the zeitgeist of the ’90s.
I spent so many hours building. It scratched the building itch I felt.
I miss it.
So I've started making my own homage.

I'll make another post explaining some of the technical decisions and my goals for the project.

The blog has begun
The workshop has a microblog.
Everything is plain markdown committed to the repo; a tiny build script turns it into this page, permalink pages, and an Atom feed. If you can read this, the pipeline works.
I am going to commit myself to regular posts, I've been meaning to do this for so many years. It feels like the time is right.
